As an Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role at Embat. You’ll lead one or more engineering teams, combining technical leadership, people development, and delivery ownership to drive product excellence and team success.

Our tech stack is second to none, so be ready to shoot to the moon and beyond. Our Frontend is built with ReactJS. It keeps us moving fast and scale up, but with strong resiliency. We use Figma to build our proprietary Design System and UI Kit. Our Backend runs on Node JS and our platform on Google GCP, using Firebase as our center of command.


đź’ĄWhat will you do?

  • Inspire, mentor, and support engineers in their professional growth through regular 1:1s, career development conversations, and performance feedback.
  • Be accountable for your team’s delivery and execution, ensuring timely, high-quality output that aligns with the company’s goals.
  • Champion continuous improvement in development processes, team workflows, and engineering best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance, facilitating smart architectural decisions and helping the team navigate complex technical challenges.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and clear communication.
  • Help attract and hire top engineering talent by taking an active role in interviews and candidate evaluation.
  • Ensure the ongoing health, scalability, and reliability of the systems your team owns.
  • Be a cultural ambassador for Embat’s values: ambition, teamwork, and humility.


đź’ĄWhat are we looking for?

  • 2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager or Team Lead, with 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience (ideally with Javascript/NodeJS/React).
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams, with a strong track record of delivering complex software products in an agile environment.
  • Passion for mentoring and coaching engineers at different stages of their careers.
  • Strong technical foundation and ability to guide teams on architecture, performance, and scalability challenges.
  • Ability to drive results through others while fostering a collaborative and psychologically safe team culture.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on engineering excellence and process optimization.
  • Great communication skills — you can adapt your message for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Based in Spain (ideally Madrid), or willing to relocate.

Additionally, any of the below would definitely be great:

  • Familiarity with our stack: React, Redux, NodeJS, MongoDB, Python, GCP, Gitlab CI/CD.
  • Experience working in or building fintech products.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Contributions to open-source projects.
  • International experience and/or additional languages.
